Capital of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta is the center of government, the epicenter for finance , business and trade, and is the main hub for international air connections in the archipelago. Jakarta is centrally connected through its satellite telecommunications network.  This sprawling mega-metropolis has hosted many important conferences besides offering many opportunities for large-scale exhibitions. The capital also has many de-luxe hotels that offer first class services in rooms, function halls and superb cuisine, whether for individuals or for large delegations.

Spouses not attending meetings are pampered for choice from the number malls available where are retail stores ranging from elegant designer boutiques to stalls selling Indonesian souvenirs.  Jakarta also has a large number of international standard golf courses in and around the city, and offers world class Spas to relax and be pampered.   Jakarta has a plethora of restaurants, from those offering fine dining on international food to fine Indonesian cuisine in exotic or romantic ambience. There are restaurants for busy businessmen and shoppers in malls, to small stand-alone restaurants for cosy intimate meals.

After exhausting meetings, relax and enjoy the many night entertainment that this city has to offer.

Pre-conference or post –conference visits  can be made to Bandung in the Parahyangan mountains, some 2 hours away from Jakarta, or visit the Bogor Botanical Gardens and tour up the mountain to Puncak amongst green tea plantations, all within a day’s visit.

Built to host the 10th. Non-Aligned Summit in September 1992, the Jakarta Convention Center  (JCC)– or Balai Sidang Jakarta – is Indonesia’s largest Convention venue with state of the art facilites.  JCC is versatile and is used the whole year through for formal conventions to elegant wedding receptions, as well as for prime trade exhitions.   The Non-Aligned Summit in 1992 was attended by 62 Heads of State and delegations from 109 countries.

Located in the heart of Jakarta at Senayan within the Central Business District, JCC  is situated across  Jakarta’s Stock Exchange.  The Jakarta Convention Center has a large round Plenary Hall that can accommodate 5,000 people, large exhibition halls that together cover over 11,000 square meters, Assembly halls that can cater to 3,500 guests for receptions or for theatre style conferences, and rooms for smaller meetings and breakout sessions.

Because of its central location, the Jakarta Convention Center is within easy reach from many of Jakarta’s de-luxe hotels that themselves offer a variety of facilities for conventions and social functions.  To name a few, they are the adjacent Sultan Hotel, the Grand Sahid Jaya, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, the Grand Hyatt and the Shangri-La by the Sudirman Boulevard and the Ritz-Carlton and the Marriott Hotel at Kuningan. Hotel Borobudur at the Banteng Square is another venue that caters for large conferences. For a  list of hotels with large function rooms see: Jakarta Hotels with Convention Facilities.
